We are currently executing the second phase of an infrastructure upgrade for Western Railway’s Ratlam Division. This project focuses on the upgradation of existing 33 KV overhead power lines by converting them to underground power lines. The undergrounding of power lines is crucial for improving safety, reducing disruptions, and ensuring the long-term reliability of the railway’s electrical infrastructure.

Key Aspects of the Project:

• Undergrounding of 33 KV Overhead Lines: This phase of the project involves the conversion of overhead 33 KV power lines to underground cable systems. This transition is aimed at mitigating the risk of accidents, reducing maintenance costs, and enhancing the reliability of power supply to railway stations and operational facilities.
• Improved Safety and Reliability: Undergrounding power lines significantly enhances the safety of both the railway staff and the public by eliminating the dangers associated with overhead electrical lines, such as weather-related disruptions, interference with train operations, and the risk of accidental contact.
• Reduction of Power Disruptions: By moving the 33 KV power lines underground, the project aims to provide a more stable and consistent power supply to critical railway infrastructure, minimizing the likelihood of power outages that can disrupt railway services.

Current Status:

The project is in progress, with undergrounding work actively being carried out in key areas. Phase-2 follows the successful completion of Phase-1, building on the momentum to ensure timely and efficient execution.

Outcome:

Upon completion, this ₹2.09 crore project will result in a significant upgrade to the electrical infrastructure of the Ratlam Division. The underground power lines will provide a safer, more reliable energy supply for the railway system, contributing to smoother operations and reducing the need for frequent maintenance. This modernization is a step forward in creating a more efficient and secure railway environment in the Ratlam Division.
